Happiness is…

Last night I was watching a television program about the Epicurean view of happiness. (Yeah, I was a philosophy major, but seriously, there really was nothing else on! I swear!)
Anyways, the narrator broke down the Epicurean philosophy into the following components, saying that to be happy according to this view one only needs:
1. Friendship. (Does Facebook count?)
2. Freedom. (Sing it, Aretha!)
3. Self-reflection. (Can’t we just Google the answers?)
As 20-somethings, I wonder how we fare in terms of these criteria. Just something to chew on, I guess. I’m not about to go off on some heady thesis on the topic — or at least not with at least a beer or two in me!

I read something recently that said the greatest predictor of your life expectancy is how many people you interact with every day. You need people to stay happy and healthy. (Your 246 friends on facebook doesn’t count, obviously!)
True friendship makes the world go round!
I think that doing what you love and being around people you love defines happiness
